Wanda Jean Hayes Nelson, known to friends and family as Jean, passed away on Wednesday, February 17, 2021 in San Antonio, Texas. She was born June 25, 1952 to Blanche Elizabeth Swatzell and Thomas Leonard Hayes in Birmingham, Alabama.
She was preceded in death by her parents. Jean is survived by her husband of 49 years, Robert Ray Nelson Sr.; sons, Robert Ray Nelson Jr. and wife Rebekah and Raymond Alan Nelson and wife Gricela; grandchildren, Brooklyn, Kailey, Luke, Vanessa, and Jason; siblings, Jan Euhelein and husband Larry, Judy Hall and husband James, Thomas Hayes and wife Oudon, Tammy Vazquez and husband Jesus, Terry Hayes, Diane Sexton and husband Alan, and Barbara Papuzzo and Pat; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and a lifetime of friends.
Jean was laid to rest at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery on Monday, March 22, 2021.
