

Coffman entered service with the Army Air Corps in March 1943 as a draftee, and served as a crew chief on P-47s during WWII, with overseas service in the Western Pacific.
He was discharged December 1, 1945 and remained in the AF Reserve.
Under provisions of the GI Bill, he completed undergraduate and graduate education.
Following graduation, he exchanged his stripes for a commission and returned to active duty in June 1951.
He served his country for a total of 25 years and had overseas assignments, in addition to WWII, in Europe, Korea and Southeast Asia, retiring in 1970.
Post retirement included school teaching, very briefly; Program Coordinator for an educational research grant, conducted by the University of Texas Health Science Center; school bus driver and a final position as Route Coordinator for the Transportation Department of Northeast School District, and taking total retirement in February 1986.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Claire, April 6, 1994.
Survivors are sons and daughters-in-law Robert and Kathy Coffman, Cupertino, California, Richard and Irene Coffman, New York City; daughter and son-in-law Susan and Rick Lacey of McKinney, Texas; grandsons Michael and Andrew, New York City, Christopher and Justin, Cupertino, California, Jerrod and Jacob, McKinney, Texas and granddaughter BriAna, McKinney, Texas; brother Leon Coffman, Abilene, Texas and sister and brother-in-law Mildred and Ed Hadt, Denver, Colorado.
He is also survived by sister-in-law Francis McKenna of Westbury, New York, brother-in-law Robert Peters of Amityville, New York and numerous nieces and nephews.
