

Col. Warren R. Hester DDS, USAF Ret, age 93, of San Antonio passed away on May 27, 2008. He was born July 27, 1914 in New Bedford, Massachusetts to Percy and Helena Hester of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey.
While in high school he went to Citizens Military Training Camp at Fort Dix, New Jersey. After graduating UMKC Dental College in Kansas City, he set up in a private practice in Orange, New Jersey, and got married.
He was called into active duty with the U.S. Army Reserves just before WWII. During that war, he served three years and three months in the South Pacific.
After returning to the U.S. he was stationed at Ft. Sam Houston. There he joined the regular Army and was transferred to Randolph Field.
In 1947 he became an Air Force Officer and continued a career teaching and practicing dentistry with the School of Aviation Medicine. Military awards include the Legion of Merit and two Air Force Commendation Medals. After serving in the military for 33 years he retired.
He then served on the staff of UT Dental School doing research. He was a member of the American Dental Association International; Association for Dental Research, F.A.C.D.. Omicron Kappa Upsilon, Americal Division Veterans Association, Disabled American Veterans Commanders Club and the Coppini Academy of Fine Arts, for which he served as President for several terms.
He also served as President of his local chapter of AARP and was an active member of his neighborhood association.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Juanita K. Hester and his second wife Dorothy G. Hester and his brother, Howard C. Hester.
He is survived by his daughter, Anita K. Hester and his nephew Robert C. Hester, stepsons Gregg and Gary McLaughlin and their families.
Visitation will be on Thursday, May 29th from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
