Warren was the basketball coach at Wm. Chrisman High School in Independence, MO, for 31 years. He served as a father figure to a lot of his students, and was able to see talent in kids when no one else could. He was a nationally ranked tennis player.
Warren was preceded in death by a son, David Landess; and his mother and father, Dorothy and Rev. Everett Elrod. He is survived by his wife, Ellen Landess, 2 sons, James Landess and wife Carolyn, and Mark Landess and wife Stephanie; 4 grandchildren, Erica, Thalia, Bruen, and Madeline; and a brother, Howard Lee Landess and wife Annie.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Independence School District Foundation in the name of Coach Landess Memorial Scholarship Fund, 3225 S. Noland Rd., Independence, MO 64055.
