
He was born on April 12, 1946, in Meridian, MS to Monroe and Ruth Jones Gressett. He is survived by his wife, Jan Ruthven Gressett of San Antonio, TX; one son, Shane Gressett and his wife Kathryn Primm of Chattanooga, TN; two sisters, Faye Lee and her husband Jimmy of Collinsville, MS and Sara Gressett of Winter Park, FL; and several nieces and nephews. He was President and CEO of ETS K-12 Works, a subsidiary of Educational Testing Service, Princeton, NJ. He attended East Mississippi Junior College, and received his bachelor's degree, two master's degrees, and the Ph.D degree in Educational Psychology/School Psychology from Mississippi State University. He served in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of SGT-E4. He was a long-time resident of Starkville, MS holding several positions with the Special Education Division of the Mississippi State Department of Education and with Oktibbeha County MS Schools. He left his position as Assistant Superintendent of Oktibbeha County Schools in 1989 and joined The Psychological Corporation, a test publishing company, as the measurement consultant for Mississippi and Alabama. He also served as an adjunct professor for the Meridian Branch of Mississippi State University. While residing in Mississippi, Wayne served on numerous task forces and committees for the State Department of Education. He served as Campaign Chairperson for North Mississippi for gubernatorial candidate, Ray Mabus. He was selected as a participant in the Forty-Sixth Annual Superintendent's Work Conference, Teachers College, and Columbia University 1987. In 1992 he moved to the San Antonio office of The Psychological Corporation as Director of Clinical Sales and Marketing. He held several other positions during his employment with The Psychological Corporation, the most recent being Vice President for Sales and Marketing for Harcourt Educational Measurement. He was named President and CEO of ETS K-12 Works in September 2000. Wayne was a member of several professional organizations, including the National Association of School Psychologists NASP. He received several awards from NASP for his personal and corporate support of its Minority Scholarship Program, and was recently appointed chair of the Minority Scholarship Advisory
