Wilbert Hobson Sr.
November 19, 1919 – June 19, 2020
Wilbert Hobson, Sr. was born November 19,1919 in Houlka, Mississippi to Emma Buggs Hobson and Lee Hobson. Wilbert accepted Christ as his personal savior at an early age. He was a member of Eight Street Baptist Church in Kansas City, Kansas for over fifty years where he sang in the male chorus and was a faithful Sunday School attendee. Upon leaving Kansas City in 2013, he moved to live with his daughter in Helotes, Texas and united with St. John Baptist Church.
Wilbert was married to Mable McKinney Hobson, who preceded him in death in 1967. From this marriage he had two children, Wilbert Hobson Jr. who died in 2011 and Janice Hobson Randolph. He later married Lila Hobson who preceded him in death in 1993. Lila had one daughter, Dorothy, from a previous marriage; however, Dorothy was more like a biological daughter to Wilbert.
Wilbert enlisted in the United States Army from 1942 to 1945 and was later employed by the Santa Fe Railroad for over twenty years. Wilbert had a love for hunting, fishing and cooking.
He leaves to cherish his memories; two daughters, Janice Hobson Randolph of Texas and Dorothy Posey of Kansas; five grandchildren, Marla Crawford(Eric), and Carla Randolph of Texas; Adam Hobson and Chris Hobson of California and Melanie Posey of Alabama; two great-grandchildren, Jaelynn Crawford of Texas and Juda Posey of Alabama.
Wilbert's eight siblings, all preceded him in death, however he leaves to mourn one precious sister-in-law Catherine (Katie) Hobson of Detroit, Michigan. He also leaves to cherish his memories a host of wonderful nieces, nephews and very close friends.
A graveside service and celebration of his life is schedule at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 25, 2020 at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery with Pastor Price officiating and with United States Army Military Honors.
