Wiley was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and man of faith whose life was marked by service, integrity, and quiet leadership. He was known primarily for his gregarious goodwill and encouragement of others. “Never met a stranger,” most would say.
Wiley was married to the love of his life, Vanita Cammack Hill, 69 years.
He proudly served his country in the United States Navy for four years during the Korean War.
Wiley spent most of his professional career in Abilene, Texas, where he was a partner in the Dean Hagler, Inc. paint company, which served several Texas communities. He was respected for his work ethic, fairness, and steady presence in both business and personal life.
Following his retirement, Wiley and Vanita moved to San Antonio where he became an active member of the Sunset Ridge Church for over 30 years. He faithfully served the church as an elder for several years offering wisdom, compassion, and guidance to many.
Wiley is survived by his beloved wife, Vanita Hill; his daughter and son-in-law, Kim and Steve Gilbert; his granddaughter, Elizabeth Gilbert; his sisters-in-law; brother-in-law; and numerous nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins who will remember him with love and gratitude.
Wiley will be buried at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, Texas in a private ceremony. The family is planning to host a Celebration of Life at a date and time to be determined.
