He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Linda Fay New Barfield; his sister, Rena Cannon of Smiths, Alabama; his sister-in-law, Donna Youngblood and husband Tommy; and many nieces and nephews.
Dick served in the US Air Force from 1957 to 1961 and soon after, he went to work at Littleton Tire Company where he played a vital role for 25 years. He attended weekend college at Our Lady of the Lake University and earned his BA in Management while working full time.
Dick's love for animals led him to Fritz Pet Products. He always had dogs and fish, and at times homing pigeons; his white doves brought happiness to many. Until the end, he enjoyed making Mountain Laurel seed jewelry as gifts for everyone.
The family will receive friends on Friday, April 6th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
