He served his country in the USAF for 21 years. After he retired from the military he moved to Odessa, where he worked and lived with his family for 35 years. He was employed by El Paso Products and owned and operated the Bruce Motel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, W.E. Bruce and Lora Bruce; and son, Craig Bruce.
He is survived by his wife, Jewel D. Bruce; son, Douglas Edward Bruce and wife, Judy; daughter, Dr. Suzanne Bruce and husband, John Malcolm Waddell; daughter, Sandra Bruce and close family friend, Wendy Stresau; son, David Earl Bruce and wife, Valerie; grandchildren, Lora Bruce, Julianne Bruce Waddell, Amanda Moore Waddell, Robert Bruce, and Julia Valerie Bruce; and sister, Lora Duke of Midland, Texas.
