He was the son of Jane Seiser Byrd Boldrick and Raymond Brownie Byrd.
He attended Alamo Heights High School and the University of Texas Austin where he was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity.
Mr. Byrd served as a Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force in Dayton, Ohio stationed at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was also a member of the Silver Spurs, an honorary service organization.
He graduated with three degrees, a BA in Physics in 1953, a BS in geology in 1956 and a MA in geology in 1958.
After graduation, he was hired by Humble Oil & Refining Company now Exxon Company, USA and worked for them for 36 years.
After retirement, he moved to Sun City, where he established a permanent home and remained until his death.
