William Edward Fortson, age 67, went home to be with his Lord on Friday, June 28, 2002 with his family by his side in San Antonio. He was born January 18, 1935 in Abilene, TX to Marvin and Willie Belle Fortson, who preceded him in death. He was reunited with his wife of 46 years, Louise Fortson, who preceded him to Heaven on September 30, 2001. He served the Lord faithfully throughout his life as a Pastor for over 35 years and as a Missionary to India for the past 8 years. He leaves a legacy of love and faith for his 5 children, Marc and Cindy Fortson of San Antonio, Myra and Terry Unruh of Sri Lanka, Byron and Karen Fortson of San Antonio, Karen and Jim Whiteley of San Antonio, and Greg and Jill Fortson of Abilene, TX. He was the proud "Paw-Paw" of 13 grandchildren, plus Colby Whiteley, who preceded him in death. He leaves behind 1 brother and 4 sisters, Jewel Rozzelle, Preston Fortson, Velva Duncan, Darlene Howery, and Marilyn Sawyer. He will be missed by his whole family along with a host of dear friends around the world, many of whom he personally led to the kingdom of God.
