William Garcia-Rivera

William Garcia-Rivera, age 76, went to be with the Lord on April 3, 2014. He was born on November 13, 1937 in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico to Alfredo Garcia-Alvarez & Paulina Rivera. William retired from the U.S. Army in 1983 and worked 15 years Civil Service at Kelly AFB. He also worked 6 more years at Kelly as a contract worker. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother and friend who will be dearly missed.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Blanca Alicia Garcia.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Anselma “Ann” Garcia; children, Dianna Diaz & husband Luis, Marco A. Garcia & wife Irma and Robert S. Garcia; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; sister, Maria A. Gagot; numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Visitation will be 6:00 p.m., Wednesday, April 9, 2014 at Sunset Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be 10:00 a.m., Thursday, April 10, 2014 at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 4411 Moana, San Antonio, TX 78218. Interment will follow at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery will Full Military Honors.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Alzheimer’s Association.
