William Edwin “Bill” Harris was born in San Antonio, Texas on October 13, 1931, and left this world to join his heavenly Father on February 18, 2022. Married to the love of his life, Barbara Vaughn Harris, for exactly one month shy of 72 years, Bill was devoted to his very large family. He was a devout Christian and serious armchair theologian, who ministered to hundreds of people throughout his life and through his involvement and support of Dallas Theological Seminary and Criswell College. In the early years of his career, Bill discovered that he was a natural salesman, and excelled as a top producer in the home improvement and insurance fields. However, his greatest business adventure was with his beloved Barbara, when they launched their first restaurant in 1979, culminating in the creation of Celebrity Café & Bakery in the Dallas area. These restaurants provided each community that they served with the finest products, and provided several generations of Bill and Barbara’s family with a livelihood that has stood the test of time. Bill never met a stranger, and could chat up anyone, anywhere, anytime. He was one of a kind, and will be sorely missed. Bill Harris was predeceased by his mother, Wilda Baylor Banks; his father, Alfred Edwin Harris; and his son, John Devrin Harris. He is survived by his wife, Barbara Vaughn Harris of San Antonio; his daughter, Vicki Harris Northen and husband Phillip Northen of Anna; his son, Derek Edwin Harris and wife Diane Harris of Fort Worth; his daughter, Kimberly Harris Patten and husband John Patten of Princeton, NJ; his son, Brandon Sean Harris and wife Amy Harris of Dallas; grandchildren Jeremy Northen, Michelle Weiss, Natalie Jones, Cody Northen, Amy C. He is also survived by his sister, Arlene Harris Stapper and husband Ted Stapper of Lakeland, FL; and sister Sheila Harris Sullivan and husband Bob Sullivan of Hot Springs, AR. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Saturday, February 26, 2022 at Sunset Funeral Home, San Antonio.
