William "Bill" Herring, age 79, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2007 in San Antonio. He was born on August 4, 1927 in Altoona, PA. Bill served four years of active duty and four years reserve duty in the U. S. Navy. He retired from civil service at Wright Patterson AFB after thirty-eight years. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church of Helotes, the Grand Lodge of Texas - Davy Crockett #1225 A.F. & A.M., Scottish Rite Body, Order of Q, Alzafar Shrine and various units of the Shrine. He was past director of the R.O.J. Court #60. He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Shirley Slocomb Herring; daughter Stephanie Stehling and son-in-law Andrew, Houston; grandson, Philip Stehling, Georgetown, TX; and sister, Robey Ammons, Clearwater, FL.
