

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Dixie Norton.
Bill lived a life defined by service, hard work, and deep devotion to his family. Before joining the United States Navy, he worked as a lineman in Parsons, Kansas. Following his honorable service during the Vietnam era, he built a strong and accomplished career. Bill worked as a construction worker, a mechanic at D. Howard, and later spent 13 years as both a mechanic and an instructor at Boeing, where his skills, reliability, and mentorship made a lasting impact.
For 58 years, Bill shared a beautiful and loving marriage with his wife, Dora Hicklin. Together they raised two children, Dorine Hicklin Gonzalez (Mark A. Gonzalez) and William “Billy” F. Hicklin III (Mary Nell Hicklin). Bill was especially proud of his six grandchildren—Maranda Gonzalez, Meaghan Gonzalez, Mark “Marky” A. Gonzalez Jr., William “Billy” F. Hicklin IV, Willie Cano, and Brittney Cano who brought him endless joy. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who adored him as well as numerous brothers and sisters-in-law.
Bill found fulfillment in the simple, meaningful moments of life. He loved watching his grandchildren play sports, traveling with his wife, working on DIY projects around the house, listening to music, and watching movies. Above all, he cherished time spent with family, who will remember his steady presence, warm humor, and generous heart.
He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
The family will receive friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., Wednesday, December 3, 2025, at Porter Loring Mortuary West, with a rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m.
A Funeral Mass will take place on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Anthony Mary Claret Catholic Church, 6150 Roft Rd, San Antonio, TX 78253.
Interment will follow at 1:30 p.m. at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
