

William Armand Jeffers, Jr., "Bill", passed away December 12, 2001. Bill was born April 18, 1943, in Washington, D.C. He graduated from Texas Military Institute, attended Tulane University and graduated from The University of Texas in Austin. He received his law degree from The University of Texas, School of Law, Cum Laude, Order of the Coif.
In 1965 Bill married Billie Jeanette Street. He practiced law with the firms of Kelso, Locke and King and Groce, Locke and Hebdon and subsequently he founded the firms of Jeffers, Brook, Kreager and Gragg. Bill was very active in the community. He was a member of the San Antonio German Club, the Texas Cavaliers, The Merry Knights of King William and the Conopus Club. He was a member of and Past President of the Order of the Alamo, as well as President of the Friends of the McNay Art Institute. He was a member of the San Antonio Country Club and The Argyle.
Bill was a wonderfully unique person. He was beloved by all that knew him and touched many lives during his time with us. He had a brilliant legal mind while also being very creative. Bill's quick wit and sarcastic humor turned many boring periods into wonderful times. His enthusiasm and energy added life to any gathering. He always was able to make people laugh. Even though he was taken from us too soon, we are comforted by knowing that he truly enjoyed life. He particularly enjoyed traveling, art collecting, and sports. Bill was successful at many things, but one of his biggest successes was as a dad. He was a wonderful father. His greatest gift to his daughters was the gift of his unconditional love. It is impossible to imagine life without Bill, he will be missed so very much, but we take comfort in knowing he is no longer suffering and is at peace.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents, William A. Bunny and Alice Jeffers, and his sister Anne Jeffers Jackson. He is survived by Billie Street Jeffers, his daughters Virginia Gray Jeffers and Aimee Jeffers Locke, his son-in-law Stacy Locke, two grandchildren Peyton Elizabeth Locke and Parker Robinson Locke, his niece Alicia Vincent, and nephews Joey Koehl and Daniel Koehl.
