

He is known as Mike, his middle name, born in Charleston, West Virginia on August 14, 1953. He holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in electrical engineering, both from Arizona State University and PhD from Stanford University. A pioneer technologist at AMD in development of microprocessors, he led management positions on the AMD K5 and K7 as vice president of Advanced Architecture Labs. Later he worked for Texas Instruments where he got the idea for a startup company of his own. A Captain in the USAF and investor in classical education for online homeschooling education curriculum K-12.
He is survived by his loving wife, Mary Louise Johnson; two children, Kevin Isaac Johnson and Brian Jeremy Johnson; father, William W. Johnson; mother, Patricia R. McCullough; brothers, David C. Johnson, Timothy A. Johnson, S. Scott Johnson and T. Christopher Johnson; and one sister, Patty Lynn Billings.
He enjoyed life spending time with family, friends, traveling, snow skiing, water sports, playing guitar and banjo and cooking. He always managed to put priorities in order to honor God, family and country. Dr. Johnson took pride in his selfless charity to community and many other acts of kindness. He was gentle, kind, quiet spirit with a brilliant mind and a wonderful sense of humor. He will be missed by all who knew him.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.to 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 15, 2020 at Cornerstone Church.
