William Raymond Kester, age 69, passed away August 13, 2018 in San Antonio, TX. He was born on November 18, 1948 in Sacramento, CA to Dale & Daphne Kester. He was loving husband and friend who will be dearly missed. Bill grew up in Davis, CA with his parents and sister Nancy. During Bill's youth he was involved in Little League and Cross Country in High School at the same time heavily involved in the band. In 1969 Bill attended UC Berkley where he received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry. Subsequently he moved to Eugene, Oregon to attend University Of Oregon and received both a PHD in Bio Chemistry and a Master's Degree in Music Education: Trumpet. He became a Band Instructor at schools around the country until he came to Lubbock, TX where he met his wife, Emily. They moved to Three Rivers, TX where he was the Director of Bands. Afterwards, they settled in San Antonio. Bill played trumpet at their church and also was able to play pool which he had always loved.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Dale and Daphne Kester.
He is survived by his wife, Emily Kester, his sister, Nancy Baysinger, a daughter, son, and two grandchildren.
The Memorial Service will be 2:00 pm, Tuesday, August 21, 2018 at Windcrest United Methodist Church, 8101 Midcrown, San Antonio, TX 78239. The private graveside will be at Sunset Memorial Park at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Windcrest United Methodist Church Music Department.
