William, or Bill as many knew him, was born on December 17, 1954 at Ft. Campbell, Kentucky. He passed away at the age of 66, in San Antonio, Texas.
William has now been reunited in Heaven with his parents, William E. and Madelyn McCrea, and his brothers Michael and Richard “Mac” McCrea. He leaves behind to cherish his memories his loving wife of 28 years, Lori McCrea, daughter, Melody McCrea, son, Scott McCrea, grandchildren: Josiah and Aria Cardenas; sisters: Michele Trangsrud and Sharon Langston, and many nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Stephen F. Austin State University, William joined the U.S. Air Force, and then left the Air Force to accept a commission in the U.S. Army. William’s 16 years of military service followed a long line of family military service. He then worked as a Civilian Analyst for the U.S. Army, most recently at the U.S. Army Installation Management Command at Ft. Sam Houston.
William had a strong and steadfast faith in Jesus, and could be found every morning spending time with his well worn Bible and in prayer with our Heavenly Father. He loved Longhorn and Cowboy football, and watching teams from his alma mater, the Lumberjacks, play. He treasured spending time with his family. He also enjoyed spending time at the family cabin in Colorado, which he helped his father and brothers build by hand.
A celebration of William’s life will be held on July 17, 2021, at 1:00 pm at Grace Point Church, 9650 Huebner Road, San Antonio, Texas, in the Student Building. He loved life and being outdoors and would be honored by attendees coming in “Texas dress” attire, jeans are appropriate.
In lieu of flowers, the family would like you to consider making a donation to the Alliance Defending Freedom: https://adflegal.org/.
