On Friday, November 25th, we lost an outstanding father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend. William Henry Mullins was an exceptional man whose straightforward style, intelligence, warmth, and sense of humor made him loved in the family, and made him friends in business and in the community as well.
He was married for 64 years to his loving wife Patricia, who preceded him in death in January of this year. Their home was a special place for family and friends, and the site of many happy events.
Born in Carrizo Springs, Texas in 1927, he learned surveying from his father, and later became a civil engineer at Texas A&M. During WWII, he served in the Navy as an electronics technician. After working for the Texas Highway Department for a number of years, he started a civil engineering consulting company, W.H. Mullins, Consulting Engineers, where his work was known for its quality. His innovations in water treatment earned him five patents. He served as an officer in a number of executive positions in the United States Power Squadron, where he helped develop water safety training programs and taught navigation courses.
He is survived by his two sons, John and Keith, three grandchildren, Meredith and David Mullins, and Emily Wagner, his brother Joe Mullins, and many other loving family members. Visitation will be held on Monday, November 28, 2011 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Porter Loring.
