William Chester Price Jr.

November 28, 1930 – June 17, 2020
Obituary of William Chester Price Jr.
IN THE CARE OF

Sunset Memorial Park & Funeral Home

William Chester Price Jr., 89, passed away in his home on June 17, 2020 in San Antonio, Texas after a lifetime of laughter, adventure and love. His devoted wife of 70 years, Joyce, was by his side. He was born November 28, 1930 in Thrall, Texas. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather who will be deeply missed.

William was preceded in death by his parents, William Sr. and Sadie Price. He is survived by his wife; his children, Gary Price (Gale) and Karen Price (Marvin Harris); his grandchildren, Derek, Angela, Ryan, Clark, Kevin and Julianne; and his great-grandchildren, Miranda, William, Elizabeth, Thomas, Olivia and Sophia.

His wisdom, generosity, warmth and wit have shaped many lives for the better.

He lived life to the fullest, including traveling across Europe and Latin America. He frequently drove to the Texas coast and Rocky Mountains even in his 80s.

William had a generous and kind heart, and he would avail himself to help others at every opportunity. He loved serving other people, including his many friends in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. He also served his country in the Air Force National Guard during the Korean conflict.

Humor seemed to come easily for him. His quick wit and ability to lighten any moment lifted the spirits of everyone he encountered, from close family members to complete strangers.

His love for cars and people resulted in a long and successful career in the automotive industry. From his first job delivering parts in the Texas summer heat to eventually partnering as an owner in large car dealerships, his work ethic, integrity and deep desire to help other people made a lasting impression on his family, colleagues and customers.

Most of all, he loved his family and his wife of more than seven decades. Toward the end of his life, every time he talked about Joyce, his eyes would start to glisten with happy tears. They shared everything together, including the moment he passed, with the love of his life by his side.

A private service is planned at the graveside. If desired, donations may be given to a charity of your choice in his memory.
