William M. Schoolcraft

William Maurice Schoolcraft, born September 27, 1938, went to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 30, 2022. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 58 years, Helen Doraine Calmbach Schoolcraft, and his parents Evelyn Marie Hoeneke Schoolcraft and William Warren Schoolcraft.

Surviving family members are his brother Thomas Allen Schoolcraft and his wife Marsha Schoolcraft; his son, Keith Edward Schoolcraft and wife Mary Katherine; his daughter Denene Ann Schoolcraft Barnes and husband Neal Eugene Barnes; and grandchildren Konor Layne Schoolcraft Barnes, Kalan Kylle Harrell Barnes, and Kaden Ryal Calmbach Barnes; and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.

Bill was a longtime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Bulverde and the Bulverde Spring Branch Activity Center. He worked at the Army and Air Force Exchange Service for over 35 years, working his way up to Branch Chief. A life-long interest was acting – Bill performed on stage in high school and at the Bulverde S.T.A.G.E. After he retired, Bill and Helen spent many good times with friends, travelling around, seeing the world. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed bowling, golfing and card games with his friends. Bill spent his last years focused on being a rancher.

A celebration of Bill’s life will occur at 10 am on Monday, February 7th, 2022, at Sunset North Funeral Home, 910 North Loop 1604 East, San Antonio, TX 78232. A private graveside service will be held at a later date.
