Loraine, Karen, and family, you remain in my thoughts.  Bill and Loraine were such an important part of mine and Al's years spent with USDA in TX and even after moving from there, we still got together.  Bill was such a big personality and we loved him and valued our friendship.  May wonderful family memories bring you comfort.



Bill and Loraine were two of our most enjoyable and dear friends.  Our most sincere condolences to Loraine and the family for the loss of Bill.  Our opportunities to spend quality time with them had been greatly diminished in recent years due to our age and declining health, but the memories of the wonderful and enjoyable years have been as strong as ever.  The years of our close relationship began in Brownsville, TX in the 1980's.  Living there until Bill's retirement, we considered ourselves a colony "in exile" and did our best to host visitors by showing them how life on the border should be enjoyed!  After that we enjoyed making trips to Scotland and The Netherlands, as well as a lengthy trip to Canada and Alaska via ship, train, bus and plane.  There were, of course,  many shorter trips to Mexico and to many places in the US with our friends.  We also had a few opportunities to sample various alcoholic favorites as we visited exotic places and adapted to local customs and traditions.  In that spirit we lift a shot of tequila in the memory of our dear friend and colleague, Bill Stagner, and to his dear wife, Loraine.  UP YOURS!




Bill and Lorraine have been our neighbors for 42 years. He was bright and interesting person and to visit and share ideas. He had a passion for buying new cars every few years and sold us a few of his slightly used vehicles. After retiring he and Lorraine enjoyed traveling both nationally and internationally. His health slowed him down in later years but he always had time to visit especially around holidays. We will certainly miss him. Our condolences go out to Lorraine and his surviving family.
