

He was born to Mack Warren and Amelia Murray Warren in San Antonio, Texas on June 24, 1909. He grew up on West Houston St. not far from the location of Karam's which was his favorite restaurant and the site of many family gatherings over the years. He graduated from Brackenridge High School in 1926.
Murray was a lifelong resident of San Antonio except for the 13 years from 1947 to 1960 when the family lived in LaVernia, Texas. His parents preceded him in death as did his sisters Annalee Coryell and Ruth Nunn.
He is survived by his loving wife and dancing partner of 68 years, Helen Lucille Wyatt Warren. He is also survived by his three sons and their wives; Bill and Nancy of San Antonio, Jim and Barbara of San Antonio and Mack and Paula of Austin. Also surviving are five grandchildren; Laura and Hunter of Austin and Tyler, Reed and Claire of San Antonio.
Murray was a devoted and loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and friend. He passed up a promising singing career to raise his family. Murray will be remembered for his keen wit and sense of humor, the life lessons he taught, and his love for family gatherings. He believed in treating people well and was a good companion. He instilled his lifelong love for hunting, fishing, and visiting the Gulf Coast with his family. He was also an avid baseball fan and enjoyed watching his kids and nephews, Doug and David, play.
In his earlier years he worked for the City of San Antonio and later retired in 1977 from Brooks AFB after working 37 years for the Department of Defense. Murray was a long time member of the Brahan Masonic Lodge of LaVernia and the Alzafar Shrine.
He was also a member of LaVernia Methodist Church and Laurel Heights Methodist Church where he was actively involved in Sunday School and Super Adults. Murray was blessed with a long and healthy life, and did not have a regular doctor until his late nineties. He will be greatly missed.
The family wishes to thank the staff of Chandler House at Morningside Manor for their kind personal care when we needed it the most. The family also wishes to thank Drs. Robert Parker and Rosina Finley.
Visitation will be on Friday, September 4th from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at Porter Loring on McCullough.
Pallbearers will be Tom Toman, Doug Coryell, David Coryell and Murray's grandsons.
