

William H. Wiggins, known to family and friends as Bro. Bill, passed away at his home on Saturday morning, September 1st, after an extended Illness. Bill was 79 at the time of his death. He was born in Nome, Texas on April 29, 1922 and spent his early years in Beaumont, Texas, where he attended the South Park Schools and was graduated from South Park High School in 1940. During World War II, he joined the Merchant Marines at the start of the war, was honorably discharged at war's end, after serving in the Atlantic, Pacific, Mediterrian and Middle East war zones. For more than 20 years, Bro. Bill was a self-motivated missionary, ordained by Lakeview Baptist Church of San Antonio. Among his earliest mission projects were shade-tree Bible lessons for youngsters in the King William area. He also led Bible studies at Normandy Terrace Nursing Home south for 20 years and was a member of Houston Terrace Baptist Church. For many years, Bill worked with Juvenile Office Officials. His home has become a safe haven and home for many homeless boys. Bill taught himself to play the guitar and enjoyed singing western, folk and gospel songs with the guitar. He was preceded in death by his parents, James O. and Mallie Sherman Wiggins, a sister, Mittie Wiggins and brother, Warren Wiggins of Beaumont and a brother, Jim Wiggins of San Antonio. Survivors include two sisters, Mrs. Cynthia Reddell and husband, Bill of San Antonio, Norma May Wiggins of Austin; and brother, Charles Wiggins and wife, Jane of Beaumont; sister-in-law, Mrs. Jim Wiggins of San Antonio; and several nieces and nephews. Also surviving are members of his loving extended family, including foster son, Frank Pancho Herrera, Becky and Huicho Chavez and children, Shannel, Roxanne, Alexis, Magda and Myra
