Willie Mae S. Cole

Willie Mae attended school at St. Anne's and was a graduate of Incarnate Word High School. Through the years she was active in her alumni organization and participated in coordinating many alumni and class reunion events. She married Thomas (Tom) E. Cole Sr. on August 8th, 1964. Together they had three children, Thomas E. Cole Jr., and Mary E. Johnson, they later adopted Tom's nephew Michael P. Cole. While her husband served in the U.S. Airforce, Willie Mae was active in her church parishes and worked for several offices of the archdiocese.

After settling in San Antonio, she began a career working for the Social Security Administration. During her years there she participated in a Bunco club and a crochet club. Away from work, Willie Mae enjoyed hosting holidays and game nights with her family and always opened her home to anyone that would enjoy good food, conversation and game play. She was an avid reader and instilled her love of reading in her grandchildren. During Thanksgiving, the Cole family hosted not just friends and family, but also participated in Host a Soldier, where they would welcome several Airmen/Airwomen that could not go home for the holiday. She taught her grandchildren and great grandchildren to play various cards games and domino's and enjoyed nights where play lasted till the late hours. She was a devout Catholic and graciously served her parish. She was a kind woman who would listen and never judge, comfort and never demand. She gave love to anyone in need and loved her family.

She was preceded in death by, her parents, William and Stella Mares, and husband Thomas E. Cole Sr. Willie Mae S. Cole is survived by her children Thomas E. Cole Jr, Mary E. Cole, and Michael P. Cole; Nine grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. The family will receive friends 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm, on Tuesday, August 24, 2021, at Porter Loring Mortuary.
