She earned a bachelor's degree in nursing from University of Texas and a master's degree in nursing education from Vanderbilt University. Winnie went on to teach nursing at multiple institutions including the University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston and later at the University of Texas in Austin.
She married her long time friend, Dr. Coyle Williams in 1968 after he was widowed and took on the challenge of becoming mother to his six surviving children ages 4-14. For the next 43 years, Winifred was a devoted wife to Coyle and a loving mother to the children. Her unwavering faith and love helped sustain a strong Christian tradition within the Williams home.
Winifred is survived by her husband, Coyle; six children, 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
You may be gone from our sight Winnie, but you are, and always will be, in our hearts until we meet again.
