Winthrop Lester Benson, Sr., age 78, passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 in San Antonio. He was born on July 12, 1934 in Pittsfield, MA. Winthrop served 4 years with the U.S. Navy and 26 years in the U.S. Air Force. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. Winthrop is survived by his wife, Pranee Benson; son, Winthrop L. Benson, Jr. and wife, Holly; son, Lance E. Benson and wife, Delrae; son, Kris W. Benson and wife, Priscilla; daughter, Malika Benson Vargas and husband, Aldo; grandchildren, Natalie, Dominick, Edeunda, Luke (Nancy), Misty, Madeleine, Sophia, Samantha, Nicholas; Great-Grandchildren, Jarron, Morgan, and Kaylin. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Friday, June 14, 2013, at Porter Loring Mortuary North. A memorial graveside service will be held at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery with Full Military Honors at a later date.
