

She was born in San Antonio, Texas on May 17, 1934. She graduated from Fox Tech High School in 1951. She had a certificate from San Antonio College as a Dietetic Assistant and worked at Leon Valley Nursing Home for 16 years. After retirement, her and our dad had a lot of more time to travel, which they did. They traveled to all sorts of places, like Hawaii, South Korea twice, and lots more throughout the United States, but after all their travels, she always returned home to take care of us like she did all of our lives. Your love was unconditional to us equally. She will be missed by family, relatives, and the neighborhood friends.
She is preceded in death by beloved parents, Pedro & Otila Armijo; loving husband Oscar Cortez; son, Guadalupe X. Cortez; siblings, Pedro (Pete) Armijo, Gloria A. Hune, Cresencio F (Chencho) Armijo, & Daniel F. (Danny) Armijo.
She is survived by siblings, Maria Pilar A. Huerta & Jose (Joe) Armijo; children, Oscar, Thomas, Carolyn, Richard, & Jon Mark; plus 12 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, 10 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday February 3, 2026 starting at 6:00 PM until 9:00 PM. A rosary will be held on the same day at 7:00 PM. Both will be held at Sunset Northwest Funeral Home, 6321 Bandera Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78238.
A funeral mass will be held on Wednesday, February 4, 2026 at 10:00 AM at St. Dominic Catholic Church, 5919 Ingram Rd, San Antonio, Texas 78228. The committal service will be held the next day, Thursday, February 5, 2026 at 9:30AM at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery, Shelter #3, 1520 Harry Wurzbach Rd, San Antonio, TX 78209.
