Our thoughts and  prayers are with you and your family.  We  loved and cherished  Velma in her early years even  though we  did  not see here  as often.  Velma  and  I grew up in San  Benito most  summers, we  went to  what was  Southmost College in Brownsville at that time. She  left  me  with many good  memories of her family, brother  Sonny and  Eddie not  to mention  her lovely  Mother Elvida  and  Dad Donaciano.  We had  so  many good times together in San Benito I remember  them all.

Our beautiful Velma is gone but not forgotten. RIP, You are in the arms of our Lord now free from pain.

My condolences to her family. She was my elementary principal and I had such a wonderful childhood during those years. She lead such a great group of teachers and for that I and my so great full. Now I have my children at Bowie. I wouldn't take them anywhere else.

Our thoughts and heartfelt sadness are with the Nunez family at the loss of Velma. She was a kind, loving, and caring person who we got to know and love as a friend, person, and colleague. As for my experience with Velma, she was a tremendously excellent Assistant Prinipal and Principal who cared for children and the community at Bowie Elementary. She and Jean Pierce were Great leaders who were role models for many of us to follow. She will be sorely missed by all...

Growing up, she took the time to talk with me and always showed she cared.
