Burton Lee Rose was born in Minnesota on November 15th 1939. He died on November 27th 2021 just after his 82nd birthday. Burt’s father Reuben and mother Zelda and his brother Bob moved to California when Burt was about 3 years old. Burt graduated high school with honors. He started college to be a lawyer and worked part time at his mothers restaurant The Cheese House in San Bernardino. Burt worked hard and invented a new kind of Roquefort salad dressing. He sold it to a big company and all by the age of 19. When he was on his way to sign the contract he went too fast, he was just a teenager and was very excited. Another car pulled out in front of him and Burt being the kind of guy he was chose to hit the brick wall instead of the car. This started another chapter in Burt’s life. He went into a coma, broke several bones all over his body. He was on life support for several days and suffered through every kind of therapy there was so he could talk and walk again. This caused him much pain. After a few years he found his beloved religion in the Mormon church.
Burt was always joking and smiling no matter what he went through. The lord rewarded him with the first love of his life Sherry Ruesch. They we married in 1966 and had six children. All of which are survived by Burt. He was also survived by the love of his life Cindy Rose. And of course he is also survived by his best friend and brother Bob and his family. In between here and there Burt served his church in many ways. He was a missionary, he was on the council of the Seventy. The church even found him a job at the thrift store locally so he could help support his family and he worked there 20 years.
Now and then Burt was in college, during his rehab after the accident they taught him how to make signs. With Burt’s mathematical mind he was intrigued with all angles and then discovered colors and as it turned out he was an artist! He liked to paint from a photo and draw a picture from that. He was very talented and a lot of his work will be preserved over the internet. He was an unbelievable perfectionist, this is the way he chose to express himself. His drawing portraits of family and friends. He even made a little money on the side. He continued to search for love and serve his church. He continued his art spreading love and smiles everywhere he went.
Despite the continuing pain from his disabilities he lived a hard life and slowly his freedom was taken away from him bit by bit, yet he endured, until he met the true love of his life Cindy. They were married in the church in 2013 and they were sealed in the church in 2016. In every thing they did or went through they loved each other a little more every day.
Even though Burt’s disability took a lot away from him, he continued to smile and joke and make everyone laugh around him. He was a wonderful man with the biggest heart ever. Anyone who knew him always went away with a smile and a joke. As his wife I can say he truly enjoyed so much to stay on this earth as my husband. He was the one true love of my life. I will love him always. We were married eight years. The were the best years of my life.
The world is a better place for having him here.
