She was also preceded in death by her mother Mary Hollis Swindle and her father Lester Warren Stockdale, daughter Susan Marie Wiss in 1958, her daughter Helen Mary Goldman in 2003, her son Michael Williams Wiss in 2014, her sister Donna Marie Thomas, and her sister Gertrude May (Trudy) Edwards. Darlene was a secretary and bookkeeper for St. Anne school in San Bernardino California. And she was very active with little league baseball. She served as president of East Baseline Little League and was very involved with the Western Regional Tournaments. All who knew Darlene knew what a big heart she had for her children, her friends, and anyone in need. She touched many with her thoughtfulness, hugs, and wisdom. It was her belief that no task was too big and with hard work and determination all things are possible. Imagine growing up and rising a family while living in Illinois, Florida, Indiana, Kentucky, Tennessee, Washington, California and Virginia. She did it and did it well! Darlene was a gifted artist and quilter. She used her skills and blessed us with hand sewn quilts, painting and handcrafted gifts. Darlene loved to travel. I can truly say she and her husband Ed have seen the entire USA using just the back roads! Darlene loved to read, play games, dance, and be mischievous. She was a hoot! We will miss her!
