
Deane graduated from the Colorado Agricultural and Mechanical College with a B.S. in Industrial Arts in June 1955, and later earned a master’s degree in the Arts from Long Beach State in June 1963.
For 37 years, Deane served as a high school industrial arts teacher and team leader at San Gorgonio High School in San Bernardino, CA. His steady commitment to students, colleagues, and the work of education reflected a life shaped by purpose and responsibility.
Deane was actively involved in the San Bernardino United Church of Christ, where he served in many leadership roles. He was also a supporter of the San Bernardino Symphony and many other community organizations, giving his time and attention in ways that strengthened the community around him.
Deane was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Mary Uhl, and his brother, James Blair Uhl. He is survived by his wife, Donna; daughters Wendy (husband Gregg) and Dana (husband Michael); and son Bradley (wife Suzanne). He is also survived by six grandchildren, Lindsay, Megan, James, Kasey, Shane, and Justin; four great-grandchildren, Hazel, Riley, Adler, Leroy; and many nieces and nephews.
