I got to know Dr. Gill (we would call him Professor Gill/Professor Uncle) at Sikh Temple in Riverside in late 90's. He started Sunday Punjabi school at the temple. He was a visionary, idealist, educated who did not compromise on his principles and firmly stood his grounds. He never sought fame but it just naturally followed him. He was mentor to lots of people and always helped them. The material world did not sway him. Stories and jokes he shared were always great source of learning. He believed in learning and growing. It is sad to loose a gem like Dr. Gill. His teachings and beliefs will always stay with me. I am wishing you peace, comfort, courage, and lots of love at this time of sorrow to the Gill family and all the loved ones. We must carry on the torch of love and empathy that Dr. Gill has taught us. We must walk the path that Dr. Gill would have us expected to walk.
