Frances, also known as “Kika”, was a beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, aunt, and dear friend.
Born to Noé and Maria Flores, Frances had seven brothers and two sisters. As a young girl, Frances developed a strong work ethic and learned the ways of a nurturer, homemaker, and caregiver. She helped her father and siblings with farm agriculture duties, harvesting oranges and strawberries for market. She also learned her way around the kitchen, by making family meals from scratch, with her mother.
During her teen years, her family left Arizona and relocated to Coachella, California, on the back of a flatbed truck. The family later settled together in the Inland Empire.
Frances liked serving and helping others. She worked at Woolworths Diner in San Bernardino. She later enjoyed a long career working at a convalescent home, caring for the elderly.
Frances loved her family, and spending time nurturing them, and watching them grow up. She loved gatherings, with family and friends, and hosted many party’s at her home in Colton. Her love for gardening was known by everyone and to visit her home was to enjoy the fruits of her labor. Along with gardening she had a great love for her many animals, with her last love being her German Shepherd, Molly.
She loved music, especially Eydie Gorme’, mariachi bands, and various other music. Frances loved dancing, and would dance with anyone at anytime. She also loved a good cold beer, and a MUI GRANDE Margarita!
Frances couldn’t go without shopping at her favorite department stores such as Fedco, JC Penney’s, and Mervyn’s, especially during Christmas time. One of her all time favorite television programs was “The Golden Girl’s”. She loved all the ladies on that program, appreciating their dry humor and snarky responses.
Frances was a devoted member of Immaculate Conception Church. Full of love, laughter, and resilience, she touched the lives of all who knew her.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband Richard Ponce, daughter Joanna Salazar, parents Noé and Maria Flores, her seven brothers, two sisters and one great grandson.
Frances’ legacy of faith, friendship, kindness and happiness, will live on in the heart of her family and friends forever. She is survived by her two sons and daughter in-law’s Frank and Pauline Salazar, Michael and Mary Clark, Step-son Roy Ponce, and Step-daughter, Rachel Ramirez. Frances was the proud grandmother to her Grandchildren: Stephanie, Brian, Mike, Marline, Mallory, Francine, Frankie, and Matthew. She continued to love, encourage and shape the lives of her 19 Great-Grandchildren and one Great-Great Granddaughter.
Frances will be laid to rest with her beloved husband, Richard.
