

Frank John Maka, aged 88, passed away peacefully on December 25, 2024. He was a resident of Sun Lakes Country Club. Frank was born on May 19, 1936, in Chicago, Illinois, to Francis and Stella Maka. He worked many jobs as a teen and also attended the American Conservatory of Music in Chicago, studying percussion instruments. He managed and played the drums in his own jazz band. Frank entered the Air force in 1953 and married his wife Meta, in 1956. Soon after, they moved to California where he was stationed at Norton Air Force Base in San Bernardino. Frank owned a swimming pool company and a horse ranch in San Timoteo Canyon. He was a Formula 1 racecar driver and also the Captain of the Redlands Police Department Mounted police for a number of years. He retired in 2000 and moved to Sun Lakes in 2019.
He Is preceded in death by his brother Ted, and two sisters, Joan and Shirley.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Meta, his two daughters Jill and Melody, 6 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at Mt. View Cemetery in San Bernardino on January 14, 2025 at 11:00.
