Gertie was born to Maria Magdalena Worsch (Dollinger) and Michael Dollinger in Ober-Lohma (Eger) Czechoslovakia. After WWII, in 1946, she and her family were relocated from Czechoslovakia to Fulda, Germany. She married CPL Thomas P. Chacon in Fulda 1948. Soon after they moved to Thomas’ hometown of San Bernardino, CA where they established their family. She was affectionally known as Mom and Oma and was a devoted mother to her sons and especially her grandchildren. She is the last sibling of the Dollinger family. She was succeeded in death by her mother Maria and her siblings Ilse, Erna and Adolf.
Gertie is survived by her three remaining sons: Michael (Texas), Richard (Huntington Beach), and David (San Bernardino). Robert, her oldest son, died in Vietnam in January 1969. Her husband Thomas passed away on November 20, 2009.
She also is survived by her grandchildren and her favorite cat, Buffy; Taryn Werner, age 40 (Michael); Sarah Chacon, age 22 (Richard); Becky Chacon, age 20 (Richard); Brendan Betts, age 40 (David); Kirsten Wilson, age 36 (David).
