I am so sorry to read of John"s passinng.  I know it has been a long time since then but I'm getting to that age that I reminice about old times.  This is Ron Toth from East Chicago, IN.  John used to call me Butch or Bitchie.  It seems that almost everybody I look for now a day  has passed on.  Could it be that I'm 83  years old now?  Any way,  I hope you are still alive. I will look to see if any of his brothers are still alive.

John and I only spent a few hours together working on a business project and I would talk to him periodically about the progress of the project but I enjoyed working with John and will miss his stories and his humor.

John was a dear friend of mine & gave me a chance during a low time in my life. Working for him at both the No Name Cafe' & the Gourmet. Great times, especially serving the Rotary Club weekly. My sincere condolences to the Coulis family.  I'll miss John so very much as I have always considered him to be a true friend.  Whenever I would visit San Bernardino my first stop would be at The Gourmet as I knew that, even early in the morning, John would be working there.  I'll miss those visits.

I first met John when I moved to California in 1984.  Over the years I"ve enjoyed a fantastic relationship with John.  There were so many great times at The Gourmet.  I remember when it would be two deep at the bar.  He made  the best Veal Francais in the world.  All the pranks he would pull on people, like stealing my wife's purse and hiding it.  He had the greatest smile.  Behind his gruff exterior was a kind and wonderful man.  We will never forget him.  Jim and Linda Vandermer

John was one of the Good Guys, and the day was nicer because he was there.  I'll miss him.

I thought he would out live all of us..We could never beat him climbing a hill, playing a practical joke, or in poker. He was always going to get the last word... Everytime.  He leaves us with many memories in our hearts, experences we would have never thought of doing, and some we shouldnt have done. I'm  a better person because of this Man, and his family. John is one of my all-time favorite persons.  When Thursdays rolled around, I was tired from working all week.  But once I arrived at the Gourmet and got my hug from John before singing with the bands -- he'd call it my adjustment -- I was no longer tired.  His contagious smile and fun spirit I will remember with great fondness.  I miss him.  Jeanne huber
