

Born in 1943 in Los Angeles, California, John grew up and lived his life in the Southern California area including Orange, Los Angeles and San Bernardino Counties. He graduated from Warren High School in Downey and recently participated in his 50th high school reunion. After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force and served his country for 4 years, stationed in Okinawa for part of his service which concluded in Merced, California. John married Sandy Bills Dixon in 1968 and was married for 28 years.
John received his BS degree from the University of Southern California after leaving the Air Force and earned a California Real Estate Broker’s license after graduating from college. He held several jobs from Sales Management at a Pharmaceutical company to selling Real Estate and brokering real estate loans before landing that ideal job as a Right of Way Agent for CalTrans. He began his career with CalTrans in downtown Los Angeles and then transferred to the San Bernardino office. At that time in 1995 he moved from La Canada Flintridge to Lake Arrowhead where he lived out his life at “Dixon’s Paradise”. He retired from CalTrans after some 30 years.
John, also known as “Jack” to his family, was the oldest of 3 siblings of John and Peggy Dixon. John’s Mother, Peggy, is still living in Huntington Beach today. His father, John, passed away in 1994. John is survived by his son, Chris Dixon of Glendora, and two grandchildren: Sean and Abigail Dixon; his sister Rita Wilke of Mission Viejo; and his brother Bruce Dixon of Arkansas. He will be inurned at the Riverside National Cemetery.
