On February 19, 1946 Josie was born in her Catholic raised home on 7th St. in San Bernardino, California, to her beloved parents Atilano Mosqueda and Frances Luna. Josie was the 5th Born into her family of 8 brothers and sisters. As a child Josie attended Our Lady of Guadalupe Church ,in San Bernardino CA. Where she later completed her sacraments, it was one of her life accomplishments so that we may all meet one day in eternal life. As a child she attended Casa Ramona, a Catholic school, and as a teenager she attended Struges High School. During Josies young adulthood she worked at a convalescent home, as an orderly, later she worked in a tree farm with her brother Arthur and sister Mary. They had many great memories of joking and enjoying each other’s company. She later became a housekeeper and retired as a Homemaker for over 40 years and resided in Redlands for over 31 years.
Josephine was a beautiful woman that truly had a beautiful soul, as she would always help, take in family, and help others before herself. Family was everything to her. Our Mom was the chain to all of our links and was our anchor. She was a Strong woman and showed us all hope, faith and strength when she defeated a long journey of cervical cancer, she proclaimed the word of our lord and let her faith strengthen her body. She enjoyed going shopping for handbags and purses, it was her hobby. She loved the color red and burgundy, she loved laughing, cracking jokes, and always making funny faces. She also enjoyed missions to the local convenient stores with her son in-law Jose to buy lottery tickets and scratchers. She was a great poker player, every weekend she’d open her home to all her family to come listen to great music, to dance, and to come eat the delicious food she would prepare. Our mom was full of wisdom, she had great humor, and she always “kept it real.” It was said she got her personality from her mother, our grandmother Frances, “So she would say” and it will continue to carry on for generations and this was clearly Josie by far. Our Mom loved spending time with her family on her favorite blessed holidays. Easter, she would hold a huge egg hunt for all her grandkids. Thanksgiving, she would prepare a feast and everyone’s favorite stuffing and, Christmas, she loved spoiling all her grandkids and seeing their smiles as they opened gift . She also loved celebrating the Birth of our savior Jesus Christ. She simply loved all the holidays, as long as her family was United.
Josephine was survived by her loving husband and soul mate Antonio Rodriguez of 38 years. They were truly inseparable, and he will always love her till the end of time. Her six children Sylvia , Elizabeth, Gina , Anthony , Daniel and Yolanda . Her Four grandchildren and one grandniece she raised as her own since birth, Juan, Anna, Angel, Sarah and Teresa.
