Lakhbir Singh, age 57, passed away Monday Sept 23, 2013 at Loma Linda University Medical Center. Lakhbir Singh was born in a small village near Mullanpur Dakha, Punjab on April 12, 1956 to parents Sajjan Singh and Paal Kaur. He was a farmer in India and moved to the United States in 1995 to provide higher education and a better future to his kids and family back home.
He was a devoted Sikh who had a strong faith in God. He emphasized on education, meditating on God’s name, being honest and fair, earning an honest living, and sharing with others. In his short life span, he was able to achieve a lot. He was elected head of the Village at a very young age and was politically active.
To provide for his family, he worked as a truck driver. He took an early retirement in 2004 when he found out that he needed a liver transplant because of liver cirrhosis due to viral infection. But he kept a healthy life style for 9 years. His daily life included getting up early, mediating, attending church services, gardening, and spending time with his grandson.
