

He was born in Grand Forks, North Dakota on July 24, 1916 as the youngest of 8 children. His early school years were at Mason City, Iowa. He was living in St. Joseph Michigan when he joined the Army Air Corps in July 1942. He served in Australia & New Guinea for 34 months. While in Australia he met and married the love of his life, Doreen. He was stationed at Langley Field VA after being rotated back to the US in June 1945 and was reunited with his wife. After being discharged they lived in Michigan until he was recalled by the US Air Force to serve in the Korean War. After his release in 1952 they moved to California and he worked in a civilian position at Norton AFB from January 1953 until retiring in June 1971. After retiring he and his wife traveled the world together and even made a trip back to Australia to renew their vows in the original church they were married at. During his retirement he kept busy running the projector at local movie theaters, baking and in his later years became very competent in using his computer. He loved being able to email his friends and family all over the world and made the most beautiful birthday and Christmas cards.
He was a life member of the Rialto VFW Post and the 43rd Bomb Group Association. He was a dedicated church member and volunteer at The First Congregational Church of Rialto. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Doreen of 54 years. Survivors include his two daughters; Sharon Ann Maggio of Highland, Karen Sue Nidey of San Bernardino, 2 granddaughters; Stephanie Ann Reed and Kimberly Sue Skalkey and 3 Great-grandchildren, Amanda Nielson, Tyler Reed and Morgan Reed.
His close family and friends were very blessed to have him in our lives for so long. He will be missed but his memory will go on in our hearts and his blood lives on in each of us.
