Marilyn Reed

Marilyn Reed was born on November 21st, 1951, in San Bernardino, California, to the amazing Yancy and Mary Reed. Marilyn graduated from Pacific High School in 1970 and received her Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science from California State University, San Bernardino, in 1974. That same year, she began her career with San Bernardino County as a social worker. For 35 years, Marilyn dedicated her career to helping countless families and children. Her career reflected the person she was at heart—selfless, compassionate, and always willing to care for others. Marilyn faced challenges throughout her life after being diagnosed with juvenile rheumatoid arthritis at just 8 years old. Despite enduring more than 20 surgeries throughout her lifetime, she never allowed her illness to bring her down or define who she was. She kept a smile on her face, loved spending time with her family, and, was a driving force in raising her son to be the strongest man he could be. By her own example, she taught that even when life is incredibly difficult, there is no excuse not to work hard, persevere, and give life your absolute best. Marilyn loved music, especially attending concerts, and enjoyed watching basketball. More than anything, she loved her family. Marilyn was sadly taken from this world on July 22, 2026 leaving behind a lifetime of love, strength, and memories that will live on in all who knew her. She leaves to cherish her memory: her only son Jason; daughters-in-law Rheanna and Suzanna; grandchildren Jyden, Allie, Evalyn, and Jackson; brothers James (deceased), Charles , and Walter; cousins Remel, Delene, and Twillea; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends.
