Marvel Jane Roberts Ryan, age 83, of San Bernardino CA, passed away peacefully Sunday, December 15, 2024, in hospice care after falling and breaking her hip in October.

Marvel was born in Weedsport New York on July 5, 1941, daughter of the late Clarence Roberts of Missouri and Cora Watkins Roberts Seal of Kansas.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edward “Bub” Ryan Jr (2006), they were married May 16, 1964 at St. Bernard Church in Scipio Center NY, with the reception at her mother Cora and grandma Lola Watkins yard. And predeceased siblings Nancy Alice Gillmore, Norma Jean Jackson and Ronald Raymond Roberts.

She is survived by her children, Cynthia Ann (Ron recently deceased 12/16/24) Samaro of San Bernardino CA, and, Edward Martin “Marty" (Irene Lapp) of Durham NC; siblings Neomia Inez Roberts of Martinez GA, Patricia Anetta DiMora of Auburn NY and Cheryl Ann (Tim) Walsh of Weedsport NY; also survived by 5 grandchildren: Jacob (Christopher Robles) of San Diego, CA, Madelyn of Redlands CA, Ashley of Pueblo CO, Ariel of Colorado Springs CO, and Samantha of Canon City CO; 6 great-grandchildren, and many lifelong friends, and nieces and nephews.

After graduating from Weedsport Central in 1959, she worked in housekeeping at Wells College. Later she would take the bus from Auburn to Groton to work at Smith Corona Typewriter Company. She was also a nanny for Dr. James and Dr Marie Rose, who later attended her children’s births. Once they moved to San Bernardino, She had a long fulfilling career working at San Bernardino City School District.

Marvel enjoyed owl and ladybug collectables, was an avid reader trading books with friends, and most of all she loved spending time with her neighbors, friends and family.
