Patricia “Patty” Malone Jackson was born on July 14, 1952, the 4th child of 5 to Anita and Robert Malone Sr., and transitioned out of this life and into her eternal rest on November 5, 2014, at home with her daughter and granddaughter by her side.
Patty grew up and attended school in Banning, California. In 1967, at the age of 14 Patty welcomed her first child Angela Michelle Reagins into the world with her high school sweetheart Larry Reagins, whom she later married. After graduating from Banning High School, she attended Riverside City College and received her Associates Degree. Years later and after the demise of her marriage, she met and married the love of her life Norman “Dickie” Isaiah Jackson II and to this union, her second child Norman “Ike” Isaiah Jackson III was born.
Patty was amazing at clerical work; she worked as a typesetter and proofreader for the Record Gazette Newspaper in Banning California for many years and later worked for the Coke-Cola Company for more than 10 years in Cathedral City, CA. Most weekends she would bring home cases of different coke-a-cola products and distribute them to the children on the block and other family members. Patty would type so fast, that when she was typing Angela’s homework assignments, she would type faster than the typewriter could print. She was actually timed once, typing 137 wpm. After leaving Banning and relocating to San Bernardino, CA she began working for the Precinct Reporter as a typesetter and proofreader for several years.
Patty was a very beautiful, carefree, feisty and outspoken woman who lived her life, her way and always to the fullest. She enjoyed playing dominos, spades, bidwiz and shooting pool. Music has always been one of her passions including dancing and singing.
In 1992, Patty had a brain aneurysm, which eventually led to a massive brain bleed, placing her in coma for 6 months, when she awakened from her sleep; she was left partially paralyzed on her left side. In May of 2011, Patty was diagnosed with stage 4 Breast Cancer and in July of that year she had a mastectomy. In 2012 the cancer returned in the same place, just more aggressive even with chemotherapy and radiation treatments and she underwent another surgical procedure for the cancer removal. Patty continued to fight the cancer battle and in 2013 it returned yet again, this time with the doctors stating there was nothing more that could be done, other than continued chemotherapy. On August 29, 2014 she made a very conscious decision to discontinue the chemo and allow the cancer to take its toll. Her words were, “with this chemo I’m not living, I’m only existing and that is not what I want”.
Patricia decided she wanted to live the remainder of her life with her best friend and granddaughter Brittney. While with Brittney, she enjoyed taking drives to the Santa Monica pier or just wherever. Playing her handheld solitaire game, watching movies and listening to hip hop music had now become her past time. Her favorite pass time was playing Wii, she would challenge anyone that came over, including Hospice Doctors, Nurses, Aids and friends, to a game of golf or baseball on that Wii. She would call Brittney in the middle of the night for a game of Wii and a little music. Brittney took excellent care of her grandmother, giving her a home, love and medical care until the very end.
Patty loved her grandchildren, and spending time with them even when they played practical jokes, like Isaiah steeling her wig and wearing it until she caught him and hit him with her back scratcher. The Jackson kids were always up to something with their grandma.
On November 5, 2014 Patty entered into her eternal rest, leaving to cherish her life memory, her Daughter Angela M Reagins-Boyd; her Son, Norman “Ike” I Jackson III and his wife Tiffaney; her 5 Grandchildren Brittney A McDade, Christian Jackson, Norman “Isaiah” Jackson IV, Amonie Jackson and Kayla Jackson; and her only surviving Sister, Rachelle Malone McDonald and husband Benjamin McDonald Sr., several Nieces, Nephews, Cousins and friends.
She is joining her parents Robert Malone Sr. and Anita Olvera Malone; Brothers, Robert “Gilly” Malone and Frank “Butch Malone; Sisters, Dolores “Lola” Lee and Peggy Malone; Niece Shonte Malone and Great Nephew Noah Stout in her eternal rest.
She is now sleeping with the Angels
