Born in Albuquerque, New Mexico . he is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Ernestine "Ernie"Martinez, Son, Ricky Martinez his wife Dora, daughter Lea Ruiz, her husband Ray, 6 grandchildren, Mickie Marie, Stevie Ann, Martin, Reyna, Raylene, Peter, and 5 great grandchildren. Pete served in the U.S. Army as a Airborne paratrooper for many years. He attained the rank of Sgt. First Class and served in the 82"nd Airborne Regiment Combat Team. Was awarded the Purple Heart during the Korean War along with many other military awards. He worked as an engineer Naval Missile System research Center for 17 years. After retiring, he opened Pete's Liquor Store, on Mt. Vernon Ave. in San Bernardino. Pete was a member of the San Bernardino Elks Lodge # 836 as well as one of the oldest members of the Catholic War Veterans Post # 762 in San Bernardino. Viewing will held on January 24th at Mt. View Mortuary located in San Bernardino between 5pm.-9pm, with Rosary at 7 pm. Mass will be held on January 25th at 10:00 am at St Adelaides Church located in Highland, ca. followed by burial service at Mt. View Cemetery, Reception will be held at Elks Lodge #836.
