

Richard Lee McKnight Jr., 64, was called home to be with the Lord on Friday, May 3, 2019. Richard was born to Richard and Alice McKnight on April 20, 1955 in Dallas, Texas. Richard was well known for his mastery of the BBQ grill, love for the Dallas Cowboys, easy going personality, big smile, and above all his love for the Lord and his family. Richard served in the United States Army. His military career included a tour in Vietnam and time spent in the Army Reserve. After he resigned from the military, he worked for the United States Postal Service, Pomona Unified School District, Staples Distribution Center, and most recently worked as an Armed Security Officer.
Richard and Rosemary met in 1996 at Pomona Unified School District. He dazzled Rosemary with his beautiful smile and good looks. The couple was wed on August 2, 1997. They enjoyed 22 years of marriage together. During this time they enjoyed going to church, traveling, gardening, hosting events, and raising their children and grandchildren.
Richard was preceded in death by his mother, Alice McKnight, step-mother Lorraine McKnight, and his brother James Whetstone. While leaving behind his loving father, Richard Lee McKnight Sr. and step-mother Cynthia McKnight; wife Rosemary McKnight; six children, Richard Lee McKnight III (Carmesha) of Palmdale, CA., Regina McKnight of Los Angeles, CA., Rhema McKnight of Los Angeles, CA., Julio Mathis (Nolandria) of Rancho Cucamonga, CA., Athena Williams (Keane) of San Bernardino, CA., and Annila De La Rosa (Adrian) of Highland, CA; fourteen grandchildren, Darnell Brown, DeVean Brown, Xavier McKnight, Richard McKnight IV, Riely McKnight, Jaelyn McKnight, Jordyn McKnight, Ajanae Mathis, Aniyah Mathis, Anicya Mathis, Julio Mathis III, Kaleb Williams, Aarin Williams, and Arthur Lee De La Rosa; sisters, Linda McKnight-Gill, Renee Jackson, Denise Jackson; brothers, Charles Whetstone, Kneeotis Whetstone, Dennis McKnight, and Ivan Ray McKnight; and a whole host of Aunts, Uncles, Nieces and Nephews.
Richard will be greatly missed by all his family and friends.
