

Dick was born May 2, 1935, in Alameda County, CA, to George and Mary Grace Weeks. After graduating from Berkley High School, he attended the University of California Berkley and then later received a Masters in Business from Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, CA.
Dick joined the United States Air Force in 1956, becoming a navigator. He flew many times in and out of Vietnam. He had a distinguished career earning many honors including, Air Force Commendation Medal, Headquarters Military Airlift Command Special Order 0065; Air Medal, Headquarters Military Airlift Command Special Order 645; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal (from South Viet Nam); Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with four Oak Leaf Clusters; National Defense Service Medal; Air Force Longevity Service Award with three Oak Leaf Clusters; Combat Readiness Medal; and the Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal, with two Oak Leaf Clusters.
Dick moved his family to San Bernadino, CA., where he retired from Norton Air Force Base as a Major, having served 20 years. After Dick retired from the Air Force, he served as the director for the Riverside County Office on Aging for 20 years.
On November 22, 1997, Dick married Barbara (Mingo) Weeks. Dick and Barbara were very active members of Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral. Some of their activities included, serving on RCIA Formation team, Eucharistic Ministers, lectors and long-time members of Serra Club. He loved his family and enjoyed refereeing soccer and watching his children and grandchildren play sports.
Dick is survived by his former wife Caroline Weeks and their children: daughter Cindi (Mike) Boggs, of Cathedral City, CA and grandchildren Brittnee, Bethanee, and Christee; son Rick (Elaine) Weeks of Mentone, CA and grandchildren, Lindsey, Karley and Kortney; son Patrick (Barbara) Weeks, of Fort Smith, AK and grandchildren, Joshua and Emma; stepchildren: Michelle Mingo, of Redlands, CA, and step grandchildren Cameron and Kristopher; Dennis (Janet) Mingo, of Phelan, CA, and step grandchildren, Dale, Jordan and Heather; Patrick (Elena) Mingo, of Varna, Bulgaria, and step grandchild Radoslav; Mark (Patrice) Mingo, of Pleasant View, UT, and step grandchildren, Abby and Zach; Mandy Mingo, Riverside, CA. His brother John (Leigh) Weeks of San Francisco, nieces Yvette, Kathy and nephew John Eric. And 14 great grand children!
Preceding him in death were his parents, step granddaughter, Tiffany Mingo, and his wife Barbara.
Visitation will be held Thursday, October 7 from 4-8pm, Mountain View Funeral Home, Highland Ave., San Bernadino. A funeral Mass will be held Friday, October 8 at 11am, Our Lady of the Rosary Cathedral, Arrowhead Ave., San Bernadino. Pall Bearers: Rick Weeks, Patrick Weeks, Mike Boggs, Dennis Mingo, Mark Mingo and Zach Mingo.
Dick will be laid to rest at a private interment service, Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, CA.
