I was remembering by Brother this morning. When my brother and sister Dickie and Lucy and myself used to go watch TV at the neighbors house because we didn't own one.  He felt bad and before we knew it we had a TV in our own house. My Brother Veto said he didnt like us going to the neighbors house to watch TV. Also when I was dating my husband Ralph.  Ralph used to talk to me at my bedroom window, and by Brother Veto went around and caught him talking to me at the window.  He told Ralph to to go to the front door to talk to me not through the bedroom window!

I was thinking about my Dad this morning and the word "compassionate" came to mind. That is a perfect word to describe Dad. He constantly put the needs and concerns of family and friends before his own needs and desires. If you were happy then he was happy with you. I was amazed at how unselfish a man he was. He did his best to make sure his family and friends were taken care of.

In the past week I have heard from Dad's family and friends about a good deed he did to help them out. He never asked for anything in return. If someone was in a difficult situation and needed money or food Dad gave it to them. If they told him they would pay him back when they got a chance he would tell them "Don't worry about it, consider it a gift". 

When I talk to people who knew my Dad they all seem to say what a nice, sweet man he was. He was a great husband to my mom and a wonderful father to his children. He truly enjoyed every second he got to spend with his grandsons.

I would like to thank the staff of Mt. View Cemetery and Mortuary for all of their support as my family and I made arrangements for my father's services. You guys did a great job with my Dad's slide show. Several people told me how nice the slide show was.

A special thank you to the Petracca family for your participation in Dad's rosary and funeral mass. To my nephew Andrew, your powerful rendition of "You'll Never Walk Alone" filled up the church and sent chills through my body. When I think about my Dad's funeral that is the lasting memory I will have. Thank you to my nephews Michael and Stephen for being altar servers at Dad's mass. Thank you to my brother-in-law Michael for leading Dad's rosary and to my nephew Thomas for your participation as well. You were very brave for somone so young.

Finally, I would like to thank everyone who attended any of the services for my father. The presence of Dad's family and friends eased a little bit of the pain his passing has caused.

Letter to My Tio

You were more than an uncle.  You treated me like a little brother.  The bond that we had, will never be forgotten.
You sponsored me for my first communion and dressed me from head to toe together with the religious accessories.  When I was eligible for my confirmation, you were in military and had your commitment.  You were my choice but that’s okay because you always came across when you finished your tour.  
I remember when my Dad was out of work and Christmas was upon us.  Been in the military did not pay you well but you found the funds to provide us with a happy one.
Before you married and in the Air Force you would write and send memorbilla of your jets and the military life.
When I attended the senior prom I asked to borrow you ’55 Chevy, I was prepared to hear that I was too young and a little irresponsible, but instead you didn’t hesitate. 
Again when I decided to marry and asked you to be my best man, not a hesitation or conference with Lola, you agreed immediately.  On my wedding day, you brought a half pint to cut the nerves and offered me to leave with your car if I had doubts.  
I have tried to follow in your footsteps, probably have not been very successful.  I did join the Air Force because you were my role model.  Veto, I will never forget you, you are and always have been my favorite UNCLE.

My prayers are with your entire family; i have not met your family or Mr. Carranza personally, yet I find myself moved by the fact that our fathers have practically follow similar paths.  Please accept my deepest sympathy to all.  Chaplain Luis Manuel Torres
