Dearest Ms. Gill, I met you when I was 3 years old, attending the Prebreterian Church-Church of the Mountsins in Hoopa. You had such s wonderful presence, your beautiful robust laughter that would fill the church! Your Jolly, nature, and loving wisdom! Through the years as I grew, you were always there for me, with a kind word, and words of learning wisdom. To me you were my adopted Aunty, and I know my stories and life comforted you when you were lonesome for home. We would share stories about my grampa and his German heritage, and your family and your heritage! Our most epic adventure: in High School driving down Bald Hills, with Cynthia Betencourt and Ellen Southard, I really thought I had that corner, and trying to impress you while driving to fast, yes you pressed that chicken, but we still ended up in the ditch. And. Your Jolly laughter saying "My God Marshall you fly down the back roads, and crawl slower than molasses on the highway!" What I will miss most is Your love, and Your Beautiful voice, as you sang in the Church Choir, and all those bible studies my Mom would attend with you! What s Beauty you were, Im sure you are as great of a treasure in heaven as you were on Earth. "You made a difference in my life everlasting!"

I loved Miss Gill! Her voice still rings in my ears, “Get yet gunnysack Cornstalk, and get on the bus! We don’t have all day.” “Egad Cornstalk! Are you trying to kill everyone in the car! Slow down girl!”

She changed lives and empowered people. Her selfless life inspired us!

She rests in the arms of her
Savior. See you later Miss Gill!

Miss Gill was One of the finest teachers to bless us Hoopa High, she always has a smile for everyone and respected everyone no matter how they treated her. I had a great time in drivers Ed with her, she let me drive up in the snow during our Driver training, even though we had to chain up, and back up for 2 miles. Thank you Miss Gill you are greatly missed.

Ms. Gill was a one of a kind. Some of the most fun I had in high school was drivers ed class. I will never forget driving to Eureka for the first time and being introduced to stoplights. Not to mention navigating Highway 96 towards Orleans. She was a very patient and brave woman riding shotgun for all those years with a bunch of teenagers learning to drive for the first time. I did not know there was a Cucamonga until I met Ms. Gill. RIP.

Miss Gill was a treasure! We has so much fun in drivers ed... She never blinked when I skidded while making a left turn! While she was teaching us how to change a tire, she just laughed while our tire rolled away and three silly girls went chasing after it! RIP Miss Gill!

"Miss Gill"........Always puts a smile on my face!! So many special memories of her during my high school years and beyond. So thankful for her strong morals, ethics, faith and huge heart.....Remembering....the trips to the softball championingships with a cooler of cheese sandwiches, an encouraging pat on my shoulder to reinsure my confidence during an intense game, her smile which lightened any moment and her simple presences always made my day better. Her many trips to Montana with Tom and Jeff, who she loved dearly! ........ The box of California olives we so looked forward to .....The cherished poems she wrote and sent for Christmas every year!!!! .... Definitely puts a smile on my face! Such a special lady who has always held a huge spot in my heart!!!! So, today I smile remembering....but also a tear runs down my cheek. So blessed to have such an outstanding role model and friend in my life!!Miss Gill, you are so appreciated and will be greatly missed!!

Ruth was a remarkable lady who gave her all to the profession of teaching, training and coaching young people! Her interaction with the Kinsey family, Kathryn and Patricia and Marj and Jim as well as her support for Mr Guckeen through a number of North Coast championships identified her as exceptional!, Trips to Ashland to accompany CSF kids, her Drivers Training , and her strong, independent role as an example of great teaching and total community involvement is what we came to expect from teachers! She left an indelible mark on the youth and families in our community! God Bless this wonderful teacher! You are missed!

I will never forget your unique character and personality. Thank you for providing so much guidance and wisdom to so many students, and young, naïve teachers, such as I was then. You were a trailblazer!
